Engraving
Engraving involves creating a plate or matrix, which is later inked so that, through a press, the image is transferred onto paper. Various supports and procedures can be used to create this matrix.
At Casa Roga, we offer different engraving techniques for your art production. We have a press measuring 88 x 150 cm, capable of making prints on paper sheets up to 120 cm long.
Metal Engraving
Metal engraving, or intaglio printing, is performed on metal plates such as copper or zinc. Different technical methods are employed to etch the material. The predominant techniques include etching for line-based drawings and aquatint, an ideal choice for producing images with a wide range of color tones. Furthermore, direct incisions can be made with a metal point.
Before printing the plate using a press, it is essential to ink it properly, ensuring the engraved marks are filled, and any surplus ink is cleaned off using a tarlatan fabric.
Xylography
Xylography, or wood engraving, stands as the oldest engraving technique. Carving is performed on wooden plates, and depending on the type of wood used, they yield different results. Specialized tools called gouges are used to carve each wooden plate, shaping the design in negative.
Subsequently, ink is rolled onto the raised areas of the drawing, which will be the impressions left on the paper.
Linocut
Linocut, similar to woodcut, is a type of relief engraving where the image is carved in negative onto linoleum, a plate made from various materials such as sawdust and cork. Relief engraving proves ideal for creating high-contrast illustrations and drawings. Manual printing is suitable for small formats, although using a press is recommended for larger print runs and formats.
Dry Lithography
Dry lithography, also known as siligraphy or waterless lithography, is a technique that involves directly drawing or transferring images onto an offset plate (pre-sensitized aluminum plates) and later printing them with the assistance of a press. Siligraphy is considered a great alternative process within traditional printmaking.
Photopolymer
Photopolymer engraving involves the use of polymer plates that react to ultraviolet light. The intended image is usually printed onto a film positive, then positioned over the plate and exposed to controlled ultraviolet light. This method enables accurate reproduction with intricate details, making it particularly advantageous for reproducing photographic images.
Monotype
In the graphic arts, a monotype refers to a unique print that cannot be reproduced. This technique combines graphic and painterly elements and is typically executed on acrylic plates.
Screen Printing
Serigraphy, or silk-screen printing, is a highly versatile printing technique that provides a wide range of finishes and supports, allowing the reproduction of high-quality original illustrations or designs in limited volumes. It involves transferring an image to the paper or the desired medium through a previously etched mesh.

En Casa Roga nos especializamos en la impresión sobre papel y serigrafía artística. Contamos con marcos de 110×80 cm y ofrecemos el servicio completo que incluye la pre-prensa, el revelado y la impresión.
Existen muchos tipos de tintas y materiales que dan acabados diferentes como colores fluorescentes, metálicos, brillantes o aplicaciones como el glitter, el terciopelo y el foil. Además, es posible imprimir en selección de color, diferentes tramas y degradados.
